Privacy Policy

SkillDrill · Last updated: 10 October 2026

SkillDrill ("the App") is developed by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App and its website collect, why, and how you can delete it. In short: you need an account to use the App, so we keep your email address, name and years of experience with Google Firebase. Your practice progress, notes and bookmarks stay on your device. Ads are served by Google AdMob. You can delete your account at any time from inside the App.

Data we collect

Your account. To use the App you create an account with your email address and a password, or sign in with your Google account. We store:

Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us. Account data is stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, provided by Google LLC) so that you can sign in on another device. Only you, while signed in with a verified email address, can read or change your profile record.

Emails we send. Firebase sends you an email to verify your address, and a password reset email if you ask for one. We do not send marketing email.

Practice progress (on-device only). Your selected courses and level, answer history, weak-topic ranking, lesson scores, streaks, mock interview results, bookmarks, mastered questions, personal notes and review queue are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us. They are removed when you delete your account or uninstall the App.

Free-text answers. Answers you type into the "explain it back" self-check are checked against a keyword list on your device. They are never sent anywhere.

Advertising data. The App shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), approximate location and app usage data to show and measure ads. If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you are asked for consent with a Google consent form before this happens. You can decline; the App works fully either way and you see non-personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy Options. Google's use of this data is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Usage analytics. The App contains optional, anonymous usage analytics, but analytics is switched off in the current version and no analytics data is collected. If we switch it on in a future version, we will update this policy first, name the provider, and give you the choice to turn it off in Settings.

Settings file and app updates. When the App starts it may download a small public settings file (used, for example, to pause ads or show a service notice) and check Expo's update service for a newer version of the App's code. These are ordinary downloads, so the servers involved see your IP address and basic technical details such as the App version and platform. They do not include your account or practice data.

Notifications. If you turn on reminders in Settings, they are scheduled on your device. No data leaves your device to send them.

"Report this question." This opens your own email app with a draft addressed to us. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself.

Website. Our web pages (this policy, the account-deletion page and the app's home page) are hosted on GitHub Pages, provided by GitHub, Inc. They set no tracking cookies and run no analytics. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and operations.

How we use data

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your account data for advertising.

Who we share data with

We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

How long we keep data

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time:

Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data between the App and our services is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to profile records is limited to the signed-in account owner by database security rules.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA or UK), you may have further rights, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction and objection. Contact us to use them.
